I Let 3 AIs Do My Color Analysis. They Disagreed.

AI has a lot of use cases you might not expect. Here's another one: personal color analysis.

I've always wanted to know my "season" — that whole system of which colors look best on you based on undertone, contrast, and coloring. But honestly? I just never seemed to have time. Book an appointment, show up makeup-free, sit under special lights... it never happened.

So I tried something different: I asked three AIs to analyze me instead.

Spoiler: it took maybe 20 minutes total. And it was free.

How I did it

I scrolled through my camera roll and picked 4-6 clear, natural-light photos (no filters, minimal makeup) for each AI. Slightly different photos for each — some overlapped, some didn't. Same prompt asking each to analyze undertone, contrast, and determine my seasonal color palette.

Here's what happened.

The results

All three AI's gave me really thoughtful detailed results. I was impressed with the level of content they each gave. And all three offered to follow up with more info. It was fun to have them build images for me to show me the colors that work best and build mood boards for me. But the results didn't match. So I was happy I asked all 3 to compare! It's a good example of using multiple AI's to check each others work. Here is a sample of the results they each shared:

ChatGPT said: Soft Autumn

  • Neutral-warm undertone with a peachy-golden base
  • Low-medium contrast
  • Best in muted, warm tones — sage, terracotta, camel, dusty coral

Claude said: Soft Autumn

  • Warm with neutral influence
  • Low-to-medium contrast
  • "The muted warmth suits you"

Gemini said: Soft Summer

  • Cool/neutral undertone with pink/rosy base
  • Best in dusty, greyed-out tones — slate blue, mauve, charcoal
  • And when I asked how confident? "I'm 90% confident in Soft Summer."

So who's right?

Two out of three agreed on Soft Autumn. Gemini was confident... but outvoted.

The funny thing is, Soft Autumn and Soft Summer are neighbors — both muted, both soft, just warm vs cool. So all three AIs agreed I'm a "soft" season. The debate was just about which direction.

I'm going with Soft Autumn. Democracy wins.

What actually worked

This wasn't magic. But it was surprisingly useful.

  • Removed bias and second-guessing. I stopped wondering and got a starting point.
  • Quickly narrowed warm vs cool, soft vs clear. The big questions got answered fast.
  • Explained why certain colors work. This was the real unlock — understanding the logic, not just getting a list.

It didn't replace human nuance or personal taste. But it gave me language, direction, and speed.

My favorite way to use AI

Not to decide for me — but to help me see things more clearly, faster.

No appointment, no special lighting, no cost.

Is it perfect? No. Would a professional see things AI missed? Probably. But for a fast starting point that's 80% right? This worked great.

Try it yourself

Here's the prompt I used (feel free to steal):

I want you to do a professional personal color analysis on me. I am uploading a clear photo of my face in natural daylight (no filters, no heavy makeup). Please analyze:

  • Skin undertone (cool / warm / neutral / olive)
  • Overall contrast level (low / medium / high)
  • Hair color influence (natural vs dyed)
  • Eye color impact

Then determine my most likely seasonal color palette (e.g., Soft Summer, Deep Autumn, Clear Winter, etc.).

For my result, give me:

  1. My season + subtype
  2. Best neutral colors
  3. Best accent colors
  4. Colors to avoid (and why)
  5. Jewelry metals that suit me best
  6. Makeup guidance (lip, blush, eyes)

Be specific and practical. Avoid vague advice.

Upload 3-5 natural light photos and see what you get. Bonus points if you run it through multiple AIs and compare.

Another example of using AI in ways you might not expect. Fast, fun, and actually useful.

Note: This is based on my own personal experience. Color analysis here used visual interpretation and AI-assisted pattern recognition from the images provided. Results may vary depending on lighting, camera quality, and personal preference. This is not an exact science — trust what looks and feels best on you.
